My interest with Jane Eyre was rekindled when I bought a DVD of the 1970 movie (Susannah York and George C. Scott) a few years ago. Bits of scenes and feelings and emotions overwhelmed me. What the heck? Well, I started to watch it but stopped myself because I really wanted to read the book first.

But I had noticed the poor quality of the DVD so I did some investigating and discovered that there isn't any good quality of this movie. Also, my copy has some scenes missing. I'm disappointed but not too upset since I only spent a few dollars on the DVD. So I put the thing on a shelf and promptly forgot about it.

Then a few (?) months ago I downloaded the book from the Gutenburg Project onto my new-old tablet and I set myself on a course to read one chapter each night. The "each" didn't happen but I finally did finish it.

I struggled a lot with the language. I had to keep going back over or digging into a dictionary. It kind of killed the feel a bit but I finally adjusted. Wow, did people really talk like that back then? I will also confess that there were a few times that I skimmed over the really preachy parts.

I'm not going to analyze the book or movie here. There's enough of that out there on the internet.

This post, my friends, is all about me! )

So now it's autumn.  *sigh*  This is my favorite time of the year.  The colors, smells, temperatures.  Yeah, it's all about nature, my refuge.

I always get nostalgic at this time.  The last couple of weeks I've been flitting around my music collection and avoiding the inevitable... golden oldies.  For the next several months I'll be snapping my fingers to the doo wop, tearing my heart out to the classic country and tapping my toes to the Motown!  Put the mp3s on randomize and...

And Presto!  I've got the perfect song to do a video for Alan's character in The Search For John Gissing.  I'm very surprised that I thought of Gissing because I don't actually like the movie but Alan is just too delightful! The rest of the movie, pbfbfbffb, trash.  I can't believe I PAID MONEY for the thing.  But Alan's slide... worth every penny. *faints*  Oh yeah, it'll be in the video.

I love sunrises. Morning is my most favorite time of day. This morning I was up before the sun and on my way to work at the first hint of daylight.

This morning's sunrise was magnificent. I wish I was talented with a camera. I imagined seeing [livejournal.com profile] suekay_87  out there with hers. Oh, she could have done magic with this one.

The first part (about 50 miles) of my drive to work is on an interstate (freeway, expressway, superhighway, turnpike), mostly through corn and soybean fields, winding in north and east directions. When I started out, the horizon was just lighting up with orange-red hues and clouds above the horizon caused the sunlight to spray.

I'll stop trying to describe it because the memory is washed out by getting on with the everyday things and I'm not doing it any justice.

A very tranquil drive. I guess that was aided by the music I had playing. My most favorite chill out album is one called "Forever Wild" which is a soundtrack for a television series that had been done about U.S. National Parks. Absolutely beautiful music all, I think, composed by Michael Whalen. Look him up. (or just click here) Give a listen. It'll change your life. When I discovered he has his own website I sent him an email telling him how wonderful his music is and he wrote back! I about fainted.

So now I'm at work. Boo! But I'm streaming Whalen-influenced tunes at Pandora so I'm okay. If the ugly work politics try to creep in around me I shoo them away with a little meditation.

It's all good and getting better.

Love and hugs to my friends!

Changes

I changed my page theme.  I like it better than before.  It's simple, easier to read.  Do you think so? Or is it miserably boring?

Well I'm being a gabby one this week.  I've been commenting like crazy on my friends' pages.  I'm posting here again.  Yay!  I'm also posting over at my Yahoo 360, so if you get a chance or have an interest, jump over there, the link is here on the page in the links section.

I'm learning more about organizing things here and on my blog.  I finally learned what tags are.  Don't laugh!  I think I'll also use my LJ for comments on my videos.  So I'll be spamming my page soon with a post for each one that'll link to the video page on Tripod which will have a link back to the LJ post for any comments.  I love comments.  Comments make me want to keep making videos.

I won't be making videos for at least month though.  I have two huge projects at work and I'm on full overtime.  But I'll be destressing by posting here or on my Yahoo blog.

Oh!  I figured out the music I need right now.  Big band, swing, jazz from the 40's and 50's.

I can't find any decent music to listen to.  I get like this.  I have a ton of CDs... lots of them ripped to my work computer... huge variety of genres... and still I can't find anything to listen to.  I'm even bored with Pandora and LAUNCHcast.  I need music to keep my head clear, and to help drown out the coworkers babblefests.

Babblefests.  There are these two guys... Hang on, just to be clear, I have nothing against guys and I'm not implying that them being guys is why what they do irritates me. If they were gals or one of each, I'd still be irritated. Anyway, they both do the same work and their cubicles are next to each other, you know, separated by the half wall thing.  So they sit there and babble all day long.  One smartass comment for another and peppered with outbursts of belly laughs.

So, I need to have the music loud and nonstop to drown these two out.

I have to figure this out before I lose my mind!!

Ooops!  Too late.  I just remembered a bit of a dream I had last night, right before I woke up at 4:00 in the morning choking on something stinging in my throat. Allergies. So this bit of my dream was something to do with my underwear being too small, cutting in and riding up.  Gads! What is that supposed to mean?  I'll just try to forget that one.

Gonna see if I can go lose myself in some seventies music.  What have I got on my drive?  ABBA, BTO, Carpenters, Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Foreigner, Gary Glitter, Heart, Journey, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Miller Band, Nazareth, Pink Floyd, Queen, REO Speedwagon, Rod Stewart, Steely Dan, Styx, Three Dog Night, UFO, Who.  How can I be bored with that mix?  Guess I need more.
