As promised many moons ago, a video using the movie The Search For John Gissing starring Alan Rickman.

I got the idea for this video after I'd put my mp3s on random and this song was the very first song to play. John Gissing kept jumping around in my mind during the song. As I put the video together I considered it to be a sweetened and condensed version of the movie, the “sweetening” being bits from the deleted scenes.

If you haven't seen the movie, the basics are: John Gissing (Alan Rickman) has plans to reach the top of the corporate ladder, but Matthew Barnes (Mike Binder) is being brought in from America to replace him and Gissing knows this. The women you'll see in the video are Gissing's girlfriend (teh one who be kissin' teh man!) and, very briefly, Gissing's secretary and Barnes' wife. That's it. Now you can watch the video.

I hope you enjoy.

So now it's autumn.  *sigh*  This is my favorite time of the year.  The colors, smells, temperatures.  Yeah, it's all about nature, my refuge.

I always get nostalgic at this time.  The last couple of weeks I've been flitting around my music collection and avoiding the inevitable... golden oldies.  For the next several months I'll be snapping my fingers to the doo wop, tearing my heart out to the classic country and tapping my toes to the Motown!  Put the mp3s on randomize and...

And Presto!  I've got the perfect song to do a video for Alan's character in The Search For John Gissing.  I'm very surprised that I thought of Gissing because I don't actually like the movie but Alan is just too delightful! The rest of the movie, pbfbfbffb, trash.  I can't believe I PAID MONEY for the thing.  But Alan's slide... worth every penny. *faints*  Oh yeah, it'll be in the video.

Today's drive home was to disc 6 of Return of the Native.  It took me into Book 3.  So that explains why the chapter numbers were going up and down. I know I haven't really been paying attention to the story, but I'm sure I'd heard a chapter 6 then some time later we're at chapter 3? I'm definitely going to have to get this book in print if I have any hope of knowing the story.  Today while listening I had a brilliant idea!  I could take sound bytes from the story and make a Windows sound scheme.  Wouldn't that be great?  It's an insane idea.  I spent the rest of the disc listening for sound bytes to prove to myself it can't work.  Um, I heard several.

Thought I might end the week (and thusly begin the new week) with some happy thoughts.

===============================

Last night, I was listening to the local radio station and they were interviewing a local college football hero (because my town is only about a half hour away from Illinois State University).
RadioGuy: So... Favorite professional football player?
Hero:  Ummm, that's a difficult one.  [pause] I like the tight end.  I like to watch all of the tight ends.
Me (to husband sitting next to me in the car): Is there any other reason to watch football?

===============================

Yesterday and today I've been listening to Alan Rickman read "The Return of the Native" on my trip to and from work.  I get in one disc each way.  I've listened to three and there are 13 total.  Yummmy 15 hours of Alan Rickman's voice!  So far I don't know what the heck is going on in the story other than a bunch of people were up on the hills making bonfires, some guy all colored red was bringing a lady to town in his cart and another lady is in love with some guy who doesn't love her.  I'm through chapter nine, so I'm not doing too good am I?  I get distracted by "the voice."  Well, and the story is very British, content and words, so some of it, okay most of it, I don't understand.  But hey, I'll just keep playing it over and over.

===============================

So my "sudden" fangirling of Alan Rickman has sort of scared my 18-year-old son.  He seems to think I'm too old for this sort of thing.  He even wonders if maybe he was adopted??  But he has one bit of approval.  At least I'm not fangirling some guy half my age.  "Because that would be gross!"

I was going about fixing up my scanner so I can upload some scans...

Anyway, I opened up the photo program and it shows me all of the pics on my computer and I saw this one of Alan Rickman and well...

Here are two videos about the movie Snow Cake starring Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver. Under the cut I give you details and ramblings on the videos and movie.

Warnings or spoilers?
I don't think you need to have seen the movie to understand these videos completely. I suppose these videos could be spoilery if you haven't seen the movie and plan to, but actually there's less revealed here than is in the trailer so... not spoilery then? Neither video needs to be viewed before the other, but if you haven't seen the movie, it may be more clear for you to first watch Alex's Lament then watch An Unexpected Friendship.

Enjoy, but most precious to me would be for you to let me know what you think about the videos, good or otherwise, so that I can get better at this. Sometimes I get so close to a video that I can't see it anymore and your comments help keep me focused.
