Laptop Dilemma
December 11th, 2007 11:51 amI got home last night after work and a quick *laughs* stop at Target (but that's another blog) and after a few stupid human tricks (see previous entry) I took my laptop to the bedroom, set it on the bed, got comfy and lifted the lid. SNAP! CRRRRRUNCH! OMG what's going on? I tinkered around a bit and the left side hinge of the display is loose. The display almost doesn't want to stay upright. What the heck caused that? I don't throw the thing around or slam it closed. I wasn't in the mood to be fixing it right then and it was staying up so I did a Scarlett O'Hara.
Today I checked some web sites and apparently this is a common problem with my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite A15-S157. The left brake hinge assembly goes wonky without warning. Terrific. So now I have to decide if I want to take apart the whole stinking laptop and A) replace the part for about a hundred bucks or B) macgyver the thing if possible. Or I could not take anything apart and just put the laptop on the desk and plug in my snazzy new (a few months ago) 21 inch monitor. But I work on a computer at a desk all day, I like the freedom of cozying up in a comfy chair or on the bed and surfing the web.
Fiddle-dee-dee!
