So I helped stir up the Gateworld S/J shipper thread this week.  Well, it's not any better there.  Surprised? 

So I have a request.

Wait, don't go.  If you are an S/J shipper and were ever at the Gateworld thread then hear me out. 

I've been offline for two months and I had been struggling to keep up at GW for a long time before that.  Well I came back to a big surprise.  A lot of my favorite GW shippers don't go to GW anymore. 

I'm sad about this in a gigantesque proportion. 

I need my shipper friends.   I personally want to invite you all to ship with me and others at sueKay's Stargate Intel.  You might already have signed up there a while back.  Sam and Jack shippers are the core at Stargate Intel.  You are very welcome there.

No pressure.  Just want to let you know about an open door.

If you want serious ship talk, Intel has it. Unfortunately we don't have the numbers of Gateworld. But that can change if we get the word out.

yeah I know what Bev said but if we don't keep saying it, it will never change, that is the whole idea, sometimes you have to fight for things that you want...and this is one thing I really want, even though atm I will probably go back to kind of lurking besides some things...

and I don't mind the numbers, I just want to ship and ship big :-) And discuss the ship and stuff like that and I thought GW was a great place for that...and it is sometimes...but sometimes I feel like I don't have any time to read and then you get OT and OT and OT :-P

This whole GateWorld thing kinda makes me sad and I don't even know what's really going on over there. I haven't been there myself and it looks like it might be better that way . . . Are people being dissed over there for shipping S/J?

Pish-tosh! If the thread is for a certain thing, you shouldn't have pages and pages of off-topic chat. I'm sure they have a thread on GateWorld for that right? I don't think you're in the wrong here. You have a right to your opinion. Have you talked to the mods or anything?

No I did not notify any mod. I was going to but I wasn't a very regular poster there for some time so I thought a reply to Eve's post was a good feeler. I think a mod would only have made the whole thing worse. Best to just move on. But I love my Sam and Jack even if it's "in the past." You're right. There are other threads for the off-topic but they argue they aren't welcome in them because they ship Sam/Jack. whatEVER! *sniffle*

But the whole thing is that even if you get a mod involved it wouldn't change at all...been there done that, only made it worse honestly...

And there is even an OT ship thread for all your personal and OT thread but that is apparently not a good idea...

It's an NC17 site, meaning, for the most part, we don't sensor ourselves...

If that's offensive, don't go there...

But if you need another place to yap about S/J and anything else in the world, you're welcome to join us.

Uhhh, I'm a lot on that site also, but I don't think Theresa would like it lol. Not that I know her that well ... just warning ...

Theresa: it's an adult board, nothing like Gateworld, and there isn't really much SJ discussion. More like drooling and worshipping, and a lot of writing (drabbles, fics, discussion about writing etc.).

Oh, Theresa, nothing has changed? I was just going to take a look this morning. You know I supported you and Eve in your efforts. I think it's stupid how totally OT that thread can go. Bekki wrote out some good rules, but if people don't want them ... Mmm, maybe I'll sign up at the site you mentioned. Pretty good idea.

Well, last night there had been a good deal of action in the lounge thread but still a lot of off topic posting in the regular thread only now in spoiler tags, most identified, some not. So there was still pages of posts and the majority off topic. Quite sad. Oh well.

I'll be tickled peachy if you pop over to Stargate Intel and give us a try. No obligation whatsoever.

It's not that I've left GW, I've just left the S/J thread. I can catch up on all my other threads combined in the time it takes for me to go through the ship thread.

Eventually it got to the point where I couldn't handle pages upon pages of people's boyfriend troubles etc etc. I don't mind that folks will go off topic.. it can be fun.. but when I woke up in the morning and had to catch up and find 7 out of 10 pages of OT with very little Sam and Jack, it made me question why I was bending over backwards to stay caught up.

The final straw (as you now know) was the constant bashing of other actors or characters by certain posters. I had to accept that it was never going to stop so the best thing for me was to leave. Regardless of whether it is off topic for them to do so anyway, the concept of "we're a family and we can say what we want" seems to rule the roost. I respect that people feel safe in that thread and many don't venture outside of it because of that, but I no longer "feel safe" there. I shouldn't have to listen to people's woes about other elements of stargate in such great detail. My opinion is if one is unhappy, go and find the right thread to be with other people who are unhappy. Don't bring it to Sam and Jack.

I now have nowhere to ship.. maybe I should do something about finding a new place to rejoice in the Sam and Jackness.

My GW interest is mostly for the Sam/Jack ship only. I've been to other threads but 1) I don't have a whole lot of time for play so keeping up anywhere on multiple topics can be a challenge for me, and 2) I'm more of a casual Stargate fan and the discussions at GW can get pretty intense and overwhelm me.

The 10+ pages every single day is what exhausted me as well. But if it was all on topic I'd be in heaven. It used to be. Now it's just drudgery for me to be there.

If you want to try shipping at Stargate Intel we will be ecstatic!

Mmm, you know I'm beginning to think there's so many of us that want the ship without the OT gossip maybe we should involve a mod and make our presence felt. I know I've " abandoned" the thread because I had no time or inclination for all the OT ( and negativity at one point), but I had no idea so many people felt the same.

GW has gone so off-topic that I have given up even trying to get back into the swing of things there. I feel like a stranger! They all call each other by their real names too rather than their screename - not that that's a bad thing, just I haven't got a clue who anyone's replying to! I just want the family back!!

I joined up at Intel ages ago, it used to be our home from home when GW had it regular crashes, maybe I'll stop by again when I have time.

By the way, glad you found my LJ and posted!!!! *hugs*

I feel the same way about the names. I like calling each other by our screenames. I don't know why. Maybe it's just more shippy that way? Or just fun? I don't know.

We keep trying to keep the ship conversation going at Intel but there are so few of us and real life interruptions and now the show is off so our shipping fizzles on and off. But when it's on we have a great time!

I'm trying to find everyone here so I poke around other folks' friends lists and there you were! I'm glad I found you too cuz I've missed you. :D
