Firefox Is Starting to Annoy Me
November 12th, 2008 12:39 pmHmmph. Firefox is starting to smell a lot like MSIE lately. I'm not liking it. Instead of adding on extensions to do cool things I am now having to add on extensions to disable pain in the ass shit! So now I to have read every bit of the updates before I upgrade Firefox, assuming this was even noted. I'm also going to start looking for another browser. Anyone got any recommendations?

I hate these things. Web pages and posts are riddled with hotlinks and little balloons that popup ugly images of the linked page. Not only do I get these stupid things flashing at me as I move the mouse around, I also can't get the expected hotlink right-click menu. Instead I get the image right-click menu. Oh, well, I can get the hotlink menu if I can manage to right-click fast enough after pointing and get my click in before the image pops up. So I now use Adblock Plus which I guess is okay because it's good for blocking other stuff and I'll probably use it for that too.

WTF is this?? Is this some malware that got on my computer? Did I type the URL incorrectly and get a malware page instead? No, it's another feature. Firefox and Google are trying to help me. They think they can control the Internet and keep it from controlling me. No thank you, I'll decide. This love affair between Firefox and Google is the biggest mistake Mozilla made.

How to disable:
- Install AdBlock Plus.
- Restart Firefox. You should get a dialog box that will let you choose a site that maintains a list. If you choose one, you're done. If you don't, do the rest the items below.
- Click Tools > AdBlock Plus.
- Add spa.snap.com/* as a new rule.
- Maybe restart Firefox? I did, not sure if was needed though.

Date: November 13th, 2008 03:05 am (UTC)I'm running ver 2.0.0.16 with no problems. I still have the file if you want it. I don't plan on deleting it or upgrading again to ver 3.0 until they fix all the stupid bugs.
Addendum...I now have 2.0.0.18 running on my box. You can the latest old version here... http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
