As promised many moons ago, a video using the movie The Search For John Gissing starring Alan Rickman.

I got the idea for this video after I'd put my mp3s on random and this song was the very first song to play. John Gissing kept jumping around in my mind during the song. As I put the video together I considered it to be a sweetened and condensed version of the movie, the “sweetening” being bits from the deleted scenes.

If you haven't seen the movie, the basics are: John Gissing (Alan Rickman) has plans to reach the top of the corporate ladder, but Matthew Barnes (Mike Binder) is being brought in from America to replace him and Gissing knows this. The women you'll see in the video are Gissing's girlfriend (teh one who be kissin' teh man!) and, very briefly, Gissing's secretary and Barnes' wife. That's it. Now you can watch the video.

I hope you enjoy.

I tried watching Putfile but it never loaded up properly. Hour glass just kept going and going and going. :(

I just tested it and it's okay for me. Are you still having that trouble with your computer about not playing WMV files? I thought Putfile converted to FLV like you get at YouTube but maybe not? Can you watch YouTube videos okay? I'll check my list of other streaming sites and see if there is another one that is "safe."

Thanks for making another vid - I love watching such :) Anyway, you made the best of that horrible Gissing movie. There were not many good scenes in it and you chose yours very well. So, I like it - but I prefer the other ones you made as I find it difficult to forget my resentment towards Binder's film. So, you did a brilliant job but Binder didn't. :)
Besides, I was a little confused, as (funny enough) you chose the very same song I chose a while ago to make an Obadiah vid. ;) I lacked the technical means to make it a good one though. My computer hated me for even trying. If you are still interested, here's the link:

How cool is this that you made a video of this song too! I didn't know you make videos! I'll check your link as soon as I post this reply.

I'm not happy with this video and it gave me a horrible time. I'd love to clean it up but I just can't bring myself to work on it again. I finally settled on putting in the fun Gissing scenes and just threw in the Barnes stuff in an attempt to make some kind of story and be done with it. I think I'll stick to making videos using source that I actually like. Oh well.

Well, I only made two or three but only uploaded this one. So, one can't really say I make videos ;)

Yeah, it is definitely more rewarding to create something you can relate too. I am somewhat glad that you are aong those who don't like Gissing though. Sometimes I feel a bit alone with my position that Gissing is anything but a masterpiece ;)

A masterpiece? *gags* The poor souls must be deluded by the Rickman slide! I think the movie is worse than a 70s sitcom.

I hesitate to say this but I'm even disappointed in Rickman on this one. I like to think that since most of it wasn't in his control and maybe even he figured it was pretty much going into the toilet, he just gave up. It seems to me that he was forcing himself to do most of it.

I'll forgive him, but only because he looks absolutely delicious throughout! :P

Indeed. Not. Funny.

Agreed that Rickman's acting wasn't spot on here. Although I am not sure if it could have been with such a script. Maybe it looked better on the page. Anyway, the only scene I found him funny was when he drank at the fountain. The rest was merely embarrasing. E.g. the scene when he can't read his presentation due to the lack of glasses. And what shortsightred person puts his/her glasses off before leaving the house? Duh!

Yeah, he looks good. But I'd rather look at his picture *lol*
