Um...

[insert LJ username] "has added you to their Friends list. They will now be able to read your public entries on their Friends page."

Why?  I don't know you. We have nothing in common. You've not contacted me privately.  Why friend me?

Guess I shouldn't worry really, but it still makes me feel like someone's looking in my window at night.

lol. Don't you hate that? They at least need to know you from SOMEWHERE! Like when you added me, I was like, "yay, a kawoosh friend!" ;)

When I finally figured out your Kawoosh name I was saying Yay too. I still can't get the two jive. Have pity for the old lady please. And I will watch your video. I already know it's going to great.

You mean get my kawoosh name and my LJ name to jive? lol. BookwormPrincess(they wouldn't let me have the last S on here. gay.) has been my writing penname on ff.net since way back. I picked jemo for my vidding name 'cause it's cute and it's the first 2 letters of my first name(Jeana) and the first 2 letters of my last name. XD

LOL! I love that icon!

Yes, I have no idea why I struggle with it. I love the jemo name, it is very cute. It completely fits your vidding style too. So then your LJ/FF.net name must fit your writing style? I don't read much fanfic. One of these days I'll have to sit down and read some of yours.

OMG, I know, right? It's SO true of writing. Especially the stuff we write at like 3 in the morning. Then we wake up, read it, frown, and stomp on it like the little guy. ;)

Hehe. Don't feel like you have to read it. Most of it's really, really long John Sheppard/OFC stuff. ;) But I do have a Vala-centric SG-1 oneshot that's pretty hilarious if I do say so myself. ;)

If you're really uncomfortable with someone being able to read your public entries and you genuinely (for whatever reason) don't want them to, you can ban their butt from reading anything on your LJ at all. Some people just like to up their numbers with no consideration for the fact that you don't want to be friends with random people who don't tell you why they'd like to be friends. Hover your mouse over their user pic and click "ban user".

It could also be a friending bot. I have this happened twice. I reported it (see FAQ, I don't remember how I did it lol).

I am completely baffled about those "bot" things. Not how it happens, but why. I just don't understand why people feel the need to do things like that. Whatever this one was, it's gone now. The username has been deleted.

I hate those. At least tell me that you're friending me!

I take small satisfaction that they cannot read locked entries.

Yes that's the only thing. But somehow it makes me feel I should lock more of my entries. I'm being silly. It's the world wide web. If I don't want people looking then I shouldn't be here.

Hear hear. I feel the some way. It ‘s the modern equivalent of the breach of etiquette; a bit like a Mr Collins speaking to Mr Darcy when he had not been introduced (in Pride and Prejudice) and impertinence and bad form.

Exactly. Why can't folks simply send a short message? I don't bite. Often. ;)

yes, I know that - had someone who friended me every week last month, a spam for sure, have to find the way to report that to LJ when I have time.

Eeks! I'd be paranoid for sure. I'm sure there is a reporting system. But then, if it's automated I doubt they can do anything to stop it.
